SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCEMENT AND SELECTION

This site contains information about the scholarships.  Additionally, announcements detailing availability of the scholarships and their criteria are mailed each year to all  public and private Alameda County High Schools.  The selection committee varies, consisting of representatives from the Coliseum Foundation Board, City of Oakland, County of Alameda, a four-year collegiate institution and the community.  They review the applicantions, interview the applicants and select the awardees.


Robert T. Nahas Scholarship

Originally, two Robert T. Nahas scholarships were awarded.  In 1983, Nahas funded two additional scholarship awards.  Each of the four awards are $3,000 a year for four years.  They are presented to two male and two female native born graduating students who have been accepted by an accredited four-year college or university.  Criteria include a 3.0 minimum grade point average, a record of community service and participation in the school's competitive sports program.

George P. Scotlan Scholarship

Three Scotlan Scholarships are awarded, one to a male, one to a female and one to either gender native born graduating student of an Alameda County high school.  The awardees each receive $3,000 a year for four years.  Criteria for the Scotlan Scholarship include a 3.0 minimum grade point average, a record of community service and a demonstration of financial need.

Ann and Jon Reynolds Scholarship

Two Reynolds Scholarships are awarded, one to a male, one to a female, native born graduating student of an Alameda County high school.  The awardees each receive $3,000 a year for four years.  Criteria for the Reynolds Scholarship include a 3.0 minimum grade point average, a record of community service and a demonstration of financial need.
